Adjust the setup settings
ByusingtheSetupmenu, youcanmakevarious adjustmentstoitemssuchaspictureandsound. Youcanalsosetalanguageforthesubtitlesand theSetupmenu, amongotherthings. Fordetailson eachSetupmenuitem, seepages23to28.
To display and exit the Setup menu
1. Displaysthe[HomeMenu].
OSD Initial language settings - Optional
Duringthefirstuseofthisunit, theinitiallanguage setupmenuappearsonyourTVscreen. Youmust completeinitiallanguageselectionbeforeusing theunit. Englishwillbeselectedastheinitial language. Press1(POWER)toturntheuniton. The languagesetupmenuwillappearonthescreen.

Resolution
SetstheoutputresolutionoftheComponentand HDMIvideosignal. Referto"ResolutionSetting"for detailsabouttheresolution(page19). [Auto] IftheHDMIOUTjackisconnectedto TVsprovidingdisplayinformation(EDID), automaticallyselectstheresolutionbestsuited totheconnectedTV. IftheCOMPONENT VIDEOOUTisonlyconnected, thischangesthe resolutionto480i(or576i)asdefaultresolution. [480i (or 576i)] Outputs480(or(576)linesofinterlacedvideo.

[Distance] Afteryouconnectedspeakerstoyourunit, settheDistancebetweenthespeakersand yourlisteningpointifthedistanceofCenter orRearspeakersisbiggerthanthedistance ofFrontspeakers. Thisallowsthesoundfrom eachspeakertoreachthelisteneratthesame time. PressADtoadjusttheDistanceofthe selectedspeaker. Thisdistanceisequivalentto adifferenceofthedistancebetweenCenteror RearspeakerandFrontspeakers. [Test] Select[SpeakerTestStart]byusingtheWS andpressbENTER. PressbENTERagainto stop. Adjustthevolumetomatchthevolume oftestsignalsmemorizedinthesystem.

Lock (Parental Control)
Initial Setting the Area Code:
Whenyouusethisunitforthefirsttime, youhave tosettheAreaCode. Toaccessthe[Lock]options, youmustinputthe passwordyouhavecreated. Inputapassword andpressbENTER. Enteritagainandpressb ENTERtoverify. Ifyoumakeamistakebefore pressingbENTER, pressCLEAR. PressbENTERtoconfirmyourAreacode selection.
Vocal
Select[On]tomixkaraokechannelsintonormal stereo. Thisfunctioniseffectiveformulti-channelkaraoke DVDsonly.

SometimesDigitalTVencountersadelaybetween pictureandsound. Ifthishappensyoucan compensatebysettingadelayonthesoundso thatiteffectively`waits'forthepicturetoarrive: thisiscalledHDAVSync. UseWS(ontheremote control)toscrollupanddownthroughthedelay amount, whichyoucansetatanythingbetween0 and300msec.

BlocksplaybackofratedDVDsbasedontheir contents. Notalldiscsarerated. [Rating 1-8] Ratingone(1)hasthemostrestrictionsand ratingeight(8)istheleastrestrictive.
